You Should Always Get Dental Chips Checked Out

You Should Always Get Dental Chips Checked OutA chipped tooth is a common dental problem. Dental chips are caused by several factors including getting a blow when playing sports. You can also get your tooth chipped when you bite into hard substances like ice. This will also distort the shape of your tooth. Note that the treatment for a chipped tooth depends on the size and location of the chip. It can be treated by a minor procedure or a more invasive approach like dental surgery. Regardless of the size or condition of your chip, it always important to get your tooth checked at our offices.

Why You Shouldn't Ignore a Chipped Tooth

Even though a minor chip might only affect the appearance of your tooth and pose no significant risks, it can cause discomfort if left untreated. This will be more uncomfortable if the chip has a sharp edge. Not only will it cause irritation to the tongue and lips but can also lead to potential infection. When the tooth is chipped, it exposes the dentin layer of the tooth, leading to potential bacterial intrusion. The presence of bacteria leads to tooth decay and root canal infections. This is why it very important to get your dental chips checked. Failure to do so could lead to serious problems later on.

Possible Treatment

After letting us know that you have a chipped tooth, we will examine it and determine the most appropriate treatment. Note that small and large chips need different treatment methods. The location of the chips also determines the preferable treatment. There are locations that need crowns while others need constructive surgery. Note that we cannot determine the right method if you are not physically present. Come by and let our professionals fix the problem! Visit our offices for more information about the dangers of chipped teeth.
