Does the Time of Day You Go to the Dentist Really Matter?

Reach out to Nancy Shiba, DDS to schedule your dental exam.
To some people, going to the dentist is just that – a trip to the dentist. For others, the trip needs to be planned well in advance. This is often the case for people with dental anxiety or very tight schedules. If you fall into a category like that, then the time of day you go into the office can matter significantly. Pick the time that is going to work best for you, then call your dentist to schedule the appointment. By knowing the time you want, you can control your dental outcome.

What the Times Can Represent

If you need to be sure that you won't be sitting in a waiting room for hours, then you want to make sure you are one of the first appointments of the day, or the first appointment or two after lunch. The later in either of those shifts that you go, the more likely you are to face delays. If you aren't worried about what time you get out of the office, then there is no need to be one of the first appointments.

For people who need to fast off of food and beverages prior to a procedure, it is also important that you try and go in early. This way, you can go home following your procedure and eat and drink to get caught up for the day. If you tend to be anxious before going to see the dentist and you drink coffee in the morning, you may want to wait until the afternoon. That way, the caffeine is gone, you won’t be as fidgety, and you can be more relaxed during the procedure.

If you aren’t sure what is best, ask your dentist. They see patients all day long, and can help you fit into the perfect appointment slot for you. If you have any questions, or if you would like to learn more, please call us today at (408) 479-6848.
